Pastels for Beginners
This Workshop is for those wishing to experiment with soft pastels if they have never used them before.
Learning the basic skills whilst depicting the sea, spray and surrounding landscape to capture the essence of a coastal view.
With a guided step by step approach to apply, blend,
soften, and create texture with this superb medium.
Applying pastels on watercolour as a mixed medium.
Learn about the different pastels, papers and
basic equipment you would need to continue with
Pastel Painting after this workshop.

Materials and Equipment List:
I have spare for use during the workshop, but it is always good to work with your own if you have them.
You may find useful the following items:
Soft Pastels
Pastel Paper
Board larger than the paper size
Bulldog clips or and masking tape
White Tack (Not Blue Tack it’s too oily) (This is for keeping your hands cleaner)
Stiff Hog hair brush (Small & Medium in Size to start with)
Pastel Pencils are an advantage (Black, Brown, White, Grey and Cream)
Charcoal or Pastel Pencils for drawing purposes
Craft Knife
Box or a container to store your pastels in a tonal value range.
Kitchen Roll
You may find useful the following items:
Hand held tray such as a plastic supermarket tray supplied free with tomatoes etc… You will hold your chosen pastels in these when working.
Baby Wipes or Wet Wipes or a cloth that can be dampened
Rubber Blender tool
Table Easel or Stand Alone Easel if you have one but not a necessity.
